Northwich Salt Mines Stabilisation Project wins Ground Engineering Sustainability Award 2008

Wrekin Construction is very proud that the Northwich Salt Mines Stabilisation Project has won yet another award.

The Sustainability Award was presented to Wrekin's Chris Osborne, together with David Billington of our Client, Vale Royal Borough Council, and Tom Brooks of our Designers, Arup, at the inaugural Ground Engineering Awards, which were held at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington on 15 February 2008.

The Awards honoured success in the industry and highlighted the ways in which individuals, companies and projects have demonstrated innovation, sustainability and value engineering.

In presenting the award, the judges said; "One of the major successes of the project was the subsequent lifting of a long standing moratorium on planning from the town centre. They were also impressed by the designer's plan, which adapted sustainable solutions for transportation, land use and materials. They felt the team had developed a technologically advanced engineering solution that in future can be applied to treating salt mines around the world."
