Within Wrekin, civil engineering contracts cover a wide variety of works ranging from highway frameworks to complex reinforced concrete and steel structures and all elements of transport infrastructure.

A large and highly qualified direct workforce, plant resource, strategically located offices and technical expertise ensures delivery of projects within the defined cost, time and quality parameters.

Expertise exists in the construction and reconstruction of motorways and highways and many bridge construction and refurbishment projects have been completed over roads, canals, rivers and mainline rail routes.

Wrekin has experience of working on long-term framework contracts, for example a five year contract is in place with Staffordshire County Council for the delivery of highway improvements. As part of the partnership Wrekin are involved in delivering schemes through Early Contractor Involvement.

Wrekin undertakes works on other areas of the transport infrastructure, projects have included the construction of Bridgend Bus Station and the Monks Cross Park & Ride Scheme for City of York. Significant restoration work has been carried out on the UK’s canal network including schemes on the Rochdale, Huddersfield, Montgomery, Llangollen and Kennet & Avon canals.

The Ministry of Defence, through Defence Estates and Defence Estates (United States Forces), has become a key client. Wrekin therefore has experience of working on military establishments including ‘airside’ projects, and possess the management systems and control measures to address the the safety and security issues associated with working in a restricted environment.

Wrekin Construction also undertake associated infrastructure improvement works such as car park construction and Section 278 works for major developers such as Gallagher, Hammerson, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and B&Q.
